Funeral Director, Westchester Co., NY

Ballard-Durand Funeral & Cremation Services is looking for a talented funeral director to join our team, supporting our growth and service of three locations across Westchester County, NY – White Plains, Elmsford and Hawthorne.   1. Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science
  2. Current Funeral Director license within the practicing state
  3. Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required to operate company owned vehicles
  4. Superb phone and email etiquette
  5. Proficient with office software (Microsoft Word, Office Outlook)
  6. Good phone and interpersonal skills
  7. Reliably commute to office in White Plains, NY, and as needed for services and arrangements in Elmsford, NY, and Hawthorne, NY, locations

Funeral Director Responsibilities

  1. Client Consultation: Meet with grieving families to discuss funeral arrangements, understand their preferences, and provide guidance on available services.
  2. Documentation and Compliance: Prepare and file all necessary legal documents, including death certificates and permits, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  3. Coordination of Services: Arrange and coordinate funeral services, viewings, cremations, and burials according to the wishes of the deceased and their families.
  4. Embalming and Preparation: Oversee embalming and body preparation activities, ensuring that all procedures are conducted with the utmost care and in compliance with health and safety standards.
  5. Casket and Urn Selection: Assist families in choosing appropriate caskets, urns, and other funeral merchandise, providing information on pricing and options.
  6. Transportation Arrangements: Coordinate the transportation of the deceased from the place of death to the funeral home and to the final resting place.
  7. Support Services: Offer emotional support and guidance to grieving families, providing resources for grief counseling and other support services.
  8. Funeral Home Maintenance: Ensure the cleanliness and proper maintenance of the funeral home facilities, equipment, and vehicles.
  9. Attendance at daily morning staff meetings

Work Hours & Benefits
